Today we experienced our first fire drill. We were mostly calm as we walked all the way to B1 and across the street. However, next time we know we have to be quieter because fire drills are a serious issue. Ms. Wright also introduced enrichment activities today. We found out that these activities help improve our learning, are fun and keep our brains moving. The classes' favourite activity was called "Class Seating Chart". Today was the first day of After Class Activities (A.C.A.) and the first day back from our long weekend. We discussed "good choices" and "bad choices" today in class as well as consequences of these choices.
REMINDER Spelling Test tomorrow. Happy Chuseok holidays to my students and their families! Today in class we had a lot of fun playing our own version of "Balderdash" by trying to guess the definitions of the words Doozy and Bumpershoot. We started reading a really interesting novel called "The One and Only Ivan" by Katherine Applegate. It is based on a true story of a gorilla who lives in a mall circus. We also got to spend our A.C.A time playing in the playground with Ms. Hendricks' Grade 3 class. REMINDER Spelling quiz on Friday the 12th. In class today we had a lot of fun during drama class playing "Statues". We had so much fun, we had trouble being quiet statues! We also finished page two of our spelling work where we learned the meaning of the words such as eclipse, twilight, gravity, and glance. Math we finished a "Cross-Number" puzzle and marked it together. REMINDER Bring ACA forms back for tomorrow. New students please bring back the permission forms signed by your parents. Today was the first full day of class. We were introduced to some classroom procedures like attendance, going to the bathroom, recess and gym. We also interviewed our classmates with the three questions we had for homework yesterday and then introduced our new friends to the class. In Art, we made "Selfies" or self portraits of ourselves to display in the classroom.
REMINDER Please bring your After Class Activity forms filled out and signed to class tomorrow as well as page 15 of the Student-Parent handbook.
