In the afternoon, students worked with Mr. Hebb on their play. We also did some investigations in Science about what materials sound travels through. Mondays mean we also worked with our reading buddies from Ms. Gibson's class. Overall it was a very good Monday.

We played some music with our own "found" instruments to demonstrate loudness and volume. We then listened and sang along with this classic Sound of Music track to demonstrate pitch.
In writing, we began brainstorming for a new topic on "If I were a teacher...". Students came up with some crazy ideas for what types of teachers they would like to be. HOMEWORK Language Arts 1. Reading Log (put in journal) 30 minutes 2. Journal - Free Choice 6 minimum sentences. Today we had two major projects to finish: Science Review and Social Studies Timeline. We worked for over an hour putting our best work into our projects and making sure to include all the parts necessary.
In the morning we reviewed the process of "stopping and jotting" and writing our Thoughtful Response Logs (TRL) in our latest chapter of Wonder. We had a very strong part to write about as there was a very sad part in our book. Before snack time, we went up to Ms. Hwu's class and got to see the Career Fair that their class worked hard to put together. It was very impressive! In the afternoon, Ms. Wright introduced the class to Genius Hour (geniushourcbis.weebly.com) and we made three questions or thoughts about what we are interested in learning. HOMEWORK Language Arts 1. Reading Log (put in journal) 30 minutes 2. Journal - What job from the Career Fair (Grade 6) would you want? Why? What is your dream job? Why? 6 minimum. Social Studies 1. Then we will fill in our Thoughtful Response Log (TRL). We practised Session A today in class using wonder. After learning about this, we got in our groups and picked out the book we would like to read together.

Ms. Wright brought in her drums (djembe and First Nations hand drum) from home today so students could experience the vibrations of sound first hand. We had a fun time testing out all the different sounds and tones we could make. We then began our review in Science on what sound is.
After lunch, we did the caribou math contest which students seemed to struggle with. During the last two blocks, we worked on Kindness and setting goals in H.A.C.E. HOMEWORK Language Arts 1.
